Frazer is a Vancouver based fine artist, typographer and illustrator. The inspiration for his work comes from the natural world and his desire to instil wonder in others with images of our universe. His passion for astronomy shines through in his vivid, true-to-life paintings of complex gas clouds, while his interest in geology and physics is represented by the light-distorting geometric shapes that often appear on his canvases.
Frazer is available for custom typography, graphic design, fine art commissions - you name it. He has a versatile skill set and is eager to get involved with whatever creative endeavour you're needing help with
V838 is a star which, in 2002, had an enormous burst of energy sending a wave of intense light in all directions. This essentially acts as a spherical CAT scan travelling outward from the star, illuminating the pre-existing gas and dust in it's vicinity that would otherwise be hanging in darkness. This is what it looked like in 2006.
NGC 2174, also known as the Monkey Head Nebula, is an emission nebula which lies in the north-east corner of constellation Orion, towards Gemini. This nebula contains an abundance of dense gas knots, which give rise to many new stars. The protrusion in the upper left of this painting features what's known as a Herbig-Haro object - strong jets of gas emitting from the poles of a newly formed star.
